The Theatres Trust's Ecovenue feature was designed to highlight the pioneering environmental efficiency practices being implemented across London venues and featured technologies designed to improve the environmental footprint of theatres. The People's Choice Award was voted for by industry professionals visiting the show and was presented to GDS, for the product that demonstrated the most significant improvement in sustainable theatre technology.
Tim Atkinson, Theatres Trust commented, "We know that from across the range of theatrical products, companies are identifying the enormous benefits to consumers, suppliers and the environment of placing sustainability at the very heart of good product design. Our Theatres Trust award will enable consumers to recognise these achievements, as well as investigate the products they can work with in the future."
GDS managing director Matthew Lloyd added, "We are delighted to receive this award for BluesSystem. GDS continually strives to bring to market new and innovative products and is committed to developing efficient, sustainable solutions for our customers".
GDS reported its busiest PLASA to date, with particular success for its new CueSystem NET, and LiteWare HO wireless battery uplighter. It also exhibited the BluesSystem and MainsSystem working lights, MotorControl, The Stage Managers Console and MOBAL, the multi-functional Socapex fault diagnosis and correction tool.
