UK - Two of theatre consultancy Charcoalblue's major projects, The New Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury and The Newcastle Theatre Royal, have won recognition from the prestigious Civic Trust Awards, which were held at City Hall in Cardiff and supported by Cardiff Council.

UK - As EMI held its annual BRITs after-show party on board the Silver Fleet's Silver Sturgeon, the production arm of London's newest rehearsal, production and storage facility SW19 provided both technical and logistical support for the event.

This was the third year running that the SW19 team had worked with EMI on the party, which welcomed a host of industry figures and artists aboard after the spectacular BRIT Awards Ceremony to celebrate another successful year for EMI's roster of artists, which includes Emeli Sande, Coldplay, Bastille and Noel Gallagher, who were all in attendance.

SW19 worked with EMI's Deby Bunyard and Caroline Hilton to realise their vision for a chic club / bar vibe, elegantly lit and with a distributed zoned audio system throughout the boat.

Fringe Society - A membership society for fringe venue operators has been launched in a bid to represent the interests of independent theatres and create a better trading platform for them. The Society of Independent Theatres aims to support venues with up to 300 seats by sharing marketing materials and audience data, as well as by recycling costumes and props. It also hopes to create partnerships between its member venues to encourage tours of shows between them. This will extend production runs so that critics are more likely to review fringe shows and create publicity for the venues, according to the society's board of directors.
