Germany - Following the recent launch of the new GLP impression S500, the powerful successor to the proven impression S350 was put to use in December 2024 at the Tollwood Winter Festival in Munich. PRG Germany deployed 34 of the 500W LED profile fixtures for the spectacular show Duel Reality by Canadian company The 7 Fingers, which ran from 17-22 December in the Grand Chapiteau theatre tent.

PRG has been the full-service provider for the technical equipment of the festival for over 20 years, covering all tents as well as the entire outdoor and ambient lighting of the event, which is held twice a year (summer/winter).

The fast-paced show Duel Reality is a modern interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet. Performed on a red and blue arena-style stage, two rival groups face off and deliver captivating feats of acrobatics, while the world-famous story of two lovers unfolds against all odds.

In the Grand Chapiteau, a tent designed specifically for theatrical performances, PRG used 34 GLP impression S500 Profile HC for the first time, along with 14 GLP impression X5 and 68 Fusion X-PAR 12Z fixtures.

Stefan Templer, account manager at PRG, describes the particular challenges involved in lighting this production: “The theatre tent is specifically designed for stage productions. The asymmetrical dome creates a tall stage house and a wide audience area with unobstructed views. The S500 Profile HC units were mounted both on production trusses and on upright touring trusses as sidelight. Thanks to the compact design of the S500, we were able to make full use of the tent’s height and thereby enable aerial acts such as Chinese Poles and the teeterboard.”

“We actually added the fixtures to our inventory for TV productions,” adds Matthias Allhoff, director of asset strategy at PRG. “But since the S500 delivers significantly more output than the S350, the new series is also much better suited for show lighting. That makes them a great fit not only for theatrical projects like this one at Tollwood but also for corporate events.”

“The new impression S500 Profile met expectations in every respect,” says Templer. “They offer excellent output, are highly versatile, and fit perfectly into our technical concept for this production.”

Additionally, 68 of the powerful zoomable LED Pars, Fusion X-PAR 12Z, were used in the theatre tent at the Winter Tollwood. For the lighting of other tents and outdoor areas, PRG also used a total of 82 Fusion X-PAR 12Z and 92 of the ultra-compact Fusion X-PAR 8Z units.
