GoboSlides are full colour, 'A' size, images made from slide film and developed by Goboland's Wyatt Enever. These are mounted in a Black Steel slide mount created to fit a standard Robert Juliat profile gobo holder. The Aledin's 85W LED light source means the gate remains cool enough to project GoboSlides for extended periods of time without damage, just like any other gobo.
Unlike other gobos, however, the slide film substrate of Goboland's GoboSlides offers considerable advantages in terms of superior colours, tones and cost savings, says the company. Whilst plastic gobos can be printed onto acetate using a standard home printer, the quality of image resulting can be of a low standard, with pixellated appearance and a lack of true black in the image.
"By using slide film instead, the image quality is heightened to truly photographic proportions," explains Enever. "Blacks are truly black and opaque and the image quality is sharp with no pixellation and true colour rendition.
"The colours and the substrate are resistant to heat degradation to such an extent that we have not yet managed to ascertain their full life, despite extensive testing. All we can say at this stage is that they are extremely long-lasting in Aledin's cool gate! The cost savings for the end user are tremendous, without having to compromise on image quality."
Enever has specialised in the production of high quality projection slides for over 30 years and this service is now available at www.goboland.com. Meanwhile, samples and demonstrations of GoboSlides in the RJ Aledin LED profile can be obtained from White Light.
Goboland UK Director, Vicky Fairall, is very happy with the response at the show: "Our new GoboSlides were used in the RJ presentation at PLASA with great success and our specially designed Black Steel gobo mount makes inserting the film slide a piece of cake. It really is a GoboSlide and the interest it has generated is fantastic!
"PLASA was a good show for us again this year. It is always a pleasure to meet up with existing clients, and we definitely have acquired new customers, some of whom are already placing orders."
