For The Netherlands based ELC Lighting team that developed the Green-GO intercom system range of products, moving into full production in January following successful launches at PLASA and LDI in 2011, the Las Vegas win was an exciting climax to a busy 12 months.
ELC Lighting's 'Green-GO' digital show communications system designer Joost van Eenbergen and sales manager Silvio Cibien said that they were overwhelmed with the compliments from such an eminent group of judges that included Mike Wood who stated, "In all the years of the Rock our World Awards the Green-GO received the quickest agreement as an award winner that I can remember. The judges were universally enthusiastic in their praise."
ELC has built an enviable reputation for its comprehensive range of high capacity Ethernet switches, DMX/RDM connectivity products, focus remote controls, DMX recorders and sequencers. Products that are used anywhere from small halls to arena-scale venues for lighting data networks and LED display walls. Since 2011, ELC has expanded into the digital intercom business with a new range of products under the brand name 'Green-GO'.
Green-GO was developed from customer feedback that after investing in a wide area Ethernet network, "Why can't they be used for communications as well?" Plus saving the cost and complexity of starting over with another proprietary network of cabling, and central exchange matrix. Joost's experience as an audio and lighting engineer, added to his knowledge of Ethernet systems came together to rethink the conventional communications system used for live performance.
he result was a new concept, based on the principle that each user's outstation has a copy of the routing and setup information usually held centrally in a communications matrix. A simple system can comprise as little as two beltpacks, connected to the same Ethernet network with Power over Ethernet. It's a simple 'plug and play' system. For simplicity, there is only one outstation design, packaged in a series of formats either as a single channel beltpack or wallpanel, or multi-channel desk. The multichannel desks have the same functionality as the beltpacks, it's just that there are more channels and some of the extra functions are available on the panel for instant access.
Green-GO can be used by two users or a maximum of 3750 users in up to 250 groups (or partylines/rings) with no degradation of the Ethernet network. Networks can be setup and managed, and text messages sent to outstations, simply and easily by using freeware software for either PC or Mac. It can work on any Ethernet network, not just a lighting network. Green-GO provides digital clarity, and wealth of features including cue lights, text messaging and show relay audio distribution.
ELC's latest development - the GWP range of Green-GO wall panels - provides three levels of network integration: GWP-HS is a panel-mounted version of the GBP2 beltpack with direct access to two channels (which may be a single direct user or a group) with a headset/mic connection; GWP-SP has similar features but with an integrated loudspeaker and microphone in place of the XLR4 headset connector, and GWP is for cuelight display and acknowledgement only. The large LCD display is also a cue acknowledgement pushbutton, and has a RGB backlight and text display that provides a clear cue light warn/go and text display.
