Meyer Sound has enjoyed a relationship with the Gyuto Monks dating back several decades, and has continued its tradition of providing support for the current US performance dates of the Gyuto Monks Tantric Choir. Meyer Sound is furnishing the monks with an audio system comprised of 16 M'elodie ultracompact high-power curvilinear array loudspeakers and a pair of 600-HP compact high-power subwoofers. Additional fill is provided by four M1D ultracompact curvilinear array loudspeakers and two UPJ-1P compact VariO loudspeakers, all driven from a single Galileo loudspeaker management system.
Meyer Sound associate 'dB Dave' Dennison has been mixing the dates on a Yamaha DM2000 digital console. Microphones include 14 DPA 4066 headset mics and eight AKG 419 clip-on condensers. 20 Sennheiser EM3532 wireless receivers, paired with SK-50 transmitters, provide wireless connectivity.
"Being in the presence of the Gyuto Monks is truly an extraordinary experience," remarked Meyer Sound's executive vice president Helen Meyer. "Meyer Sound is proud to help make it possible for a wider audience to experience their wonderful performances and message."
Proceeds from the tour will benefit the Gyuto Vajrayana Center's plans for a traditional monastic educational facility in San Jose, as well as supporting the Gyuto Monastery's medical facilities in India. The tour will include the monks' hosting the Dalai Lama for two days of teaching in San Francisco in April.
