Hybrid are currently building up to the release of their third album, I Choose Noise, which is due out in September, and they previewed some of their new tracks at the end of July on stage at the UK's Global Gathering festival 2006, as part of a Summer tour that has taken in dates in the USA, UK and mainland Europe.
Harman Pro UK supplied the bulk of the equipment used at the all-important UK live album debut, as long-term Hybrid engineer James Baker explains. "We had a Soundcraft MH4 console on front-of-house duties - the MH4 is a dual-purpose desk that can be used for monitor or FOH mixing, but I was using it as a front-of-house desk. It's important to get the effects right on live electronica, and Harman supplied us with the best in affordable hardware effects, Lexicon PCM81s and 91s, to handle those. We kept the levels of the live guitars and vocalists under control with dbx160 compressors, which do exactly what they say on the tin, and the mics were all AKGs: C5900 condensers for the vocals, C414s for the guitars, and of course D112s for the bass and bass drum. It was a fantastic show, and a great live debut for the album."
