USA - High End Systems has released its newest version of software for the Catalyst Media Server - the product which fuses lighting with digital media. Catalyst Pro v3.2 now offers more features and functions, including six layers of digital media for real-time rendering, with full effects capabilities on each layer. (The previous v3.0 offered four layers.)

New digital media libraries have also been added, with graphics specially enhanced for optimum projection performance. For the first time, Catalyst now features SDI video input for real-time video capturing and is shipping with SCSI drives.

High End Systems chief technology officer Richard Belliveau says: "The addition of SDI input makes the Catalyst more valuable in the audio-visual industry." Catalyst has won numerous industry awards, and is being specified on concert tours, in corporate presentations, on television award shows, on cruise ships and entertainment venue installs.Catalyst Pro v3.2 Media Server features include: Road-cased unit containing Apple Power Mac G5, a 15" LCD monitor plus DV1 dual video distribution amplifier, and Catalyst Interface Box. This is preloaded with Catalyst Pro v3.2 software, multiple media libraries, including Artbeats, Feedback Video and A Luna Blue and two independent video signals that can be configured as one output with preview or two outputs to separate devices.

There are six layers of digital media with full effects capabilities on each layer (four video layers plus two mask layers), with cross-fading between all six layers, real-time effects rendering, rotation of images on x, y, and z axes plus the ability to overlay still images or movies on geometric shapes. In addition there are more than 50 real-time colour effects, more than 30 real-time geometric effects and keystone correction on vertical and horizontal planes.

The package also includes: frame-accurate playback between multiple layers and media servers, audio trigger for Spectrograph (wave form generator), 100v - 240v 50/60hz, DMX and Midi input (optional equipment required), RS422 Control (Sony 9-pin protocol), and a Graphical user interface.
