We're filling the stadium: powered by HK Audio takes place on 9 July 2016 and will see what would be the world's biggest ever orchestra performing four pieces - excerpts from Dvorak's 9th Symphony and Beethoven's 9th Symphony (4th Movement), the Starlight Express musical's title track, and John Miles' Music (Was My First Love) - under the watch of renowned conductor and ECHO Award winner Wolf Kerschek.
Later in the day, celebrated German performers Yvonne Catterfeld, Johannes Oerding and Daniel Wirtz will help the 40,000-strong crowd celebrate their new world record - which will be achieved if the number of musicians participating eclipses the 7,224 who combined in Brisbane, Australia, in 2013.
Jens Illemann, who instigated the project, said, "Every note counts! Only by working together can we succeed in bringing this incredible record to Germany. To that end, every symphonic and wind orchestra, every professional and every ambitious amateur is more than welcome to come and play their part on the day."
Providing a PA for 10,000 musicians is certainly a challenge, but HK Audio's Cohedra series - which delivers remarkably clear sound no matter the size of the venue or the complexity of the performance - will be more than up to the job.
Patrik Meyer, managing director of the Commerzbank Arena, said, "We're proud to have secured such an acclaimed global music brand as HK Audio as our main sponsor. It was crucial for us to have a partner that shares our enthusiasm for such an exciting project."
Nicolas Petit, HK Audio's chief marketing officer, said,"We're delighted to be making history as part of this incredible event! We're fascinated by the energy of great sound, and so we can't wait to experience the sheer power an orchestra of 10,000 musicians can create. It's going to be a blast."
