Howard Marks was compere for the event, which involved two days of music across five stages - three for live music and two DJ tents - and the annual surf awards.
SPS Systems managed the PA requirements for the event, with support from fellow hire companies APR Audio, Evosound and Fearless Audio. Two iDR10 stage racks with iLive-144 control surfaces were selected for the FOH and monitors on the main stage, with an iDR10 and iLive-112 surface on the second Local Heroes stage managing both functions. Also managing FOH and monitors, there was an iDR10 with the compact iLive-80 surface for the Rabbit Hole tent, which required a small foot print in the very snug FOH booth.
The recently released v1.3 of the iLive software was installed in all the systems, offering greater flexibility for monitor mixing, including engineers' fader strips for wedge and in-ears, useful RTA and new FX types.
"It was my first time thrown in at the deep end at a festival with iLive, but it performed well and was simple to use. All the input and outputs were clearly set out and I was able to get my monitor mixes together within half a song. The EQ sounded very nice. I'd happily use the desk again," comments Alphabeat's monitor engineer, Ben Booker.
