PLASA 2002 at Earls Court, London, is the venue for the launch of the Compact Sy40, the new digital mixing console from InnovaSon, featuring 40 input channels and 24 mix busses. Housed in the same chassis as the Compact Live and Actor, the Compact Sy40 offers far greater mixing capabilities and enhanced functionality for the same number of faders: 32 (including eight stereo) for 40 input channels, 12 stereo mix busses, three left/right/mono/centre masters and one for automation control. The Sy40 has all 12 GrAux outputs stereo enabled to allow fully featured IEM mixing capabilities. Compact Sy40 can be expanded to 72 physical inputs and 48 physical outputs when used in conjunction with an InnovaSon remote Stage Box and up to 500m of co-axcable.

The Compact Sy40 has all of the advantages of the modular architecture of the rest of the Sensory range. Users can choose from optional input/output modules featuring a range of analogue and digital interfaces. By offering modular input/output architecture, InnovaSon consoles can be perfectly configured for any job. InnovaSon's open-ended architecture allows any Compact to be easily converted to Sy40 specification with a simple upgrade, demonstrating that purchase of an InnovaSon console is a wise long-term investment.

InnovaSon consoles are exclusively distributed in the UK by SSE Hire, who are exhibiting at PLASA for the first time following the launch it s sales department. Besides InnovaSon, SSE is also displaying examples of the products for which it has been appointed specialist dealer, including Nexo, Camco, Allen & Heath and Klark Teknik. On show for the first time in the UK is the KT Helix equalizer, which SSE’s hire department has been field-testing over the summer festival season.

SSE is also showing examples of the equipment manufactured at its Birmingham facility, including its staging and riser ranges. Recently appointed equipment sales manager, Julian Ward comments: "It’s been a hectic few months having responsibility for organizing the sales as a separate department within this extremely busy company. I still can’t believe the speed at which things happen around here - I’ve never worked in such a dynamic business. Needless to say, it’s been very exciting and certainly never dull. In my first month we took on the Allen & Heath line and put on a great product launch for Nexo’s Geo at the ICC. Since then I’ve been involved in numerous sales, including a large installation project at Sheffield University, which is completing this week. Add to that the first time at PLASA - it’s been a steep learning curve but very rewarding."

Director John Penn added: "Our exhibit at PLASA seeks to demonstrate the commitment of SSE to our new sales venture and the broad range of expertise that we can bring to the benefit of our potential customers."
