Innovate Audio partners with PEARL
- Details
PEARL (Person-Environment-Activity Research Laboratory) is a facility built to explore the ways in which people interact with their environment. The 4,000sq.m space is equipped with a large L-Acoustics sound system, enabling researchers to reproduce sonic environments, from the tiniest bird song to massive explosions.
As a result of this partnership, PEARL will now have access to Innovate Audio’s ground-breaking panLab 2 spatial audio mixing solution. panLab 2 will allow researchers to accurately position sound sources within environments, whilst offering complete flexibility over the layout of loudspeaker design.
Usually found on Broadway and in London’s West End, panLab 2 is a spatial sound design and mixing tool, designed to integrate seamlessly with QLab.
“I was completely blown away when I first used Innovate Audio’s panLab 2,” says Steve Mayo, specialist lead - sound at UCL PEARL. “It is the first spatial audio mixing solution that offers complete flexibility in how it deals with sound system design and layout. Here at PEARL we use theatrical craft to create hyper-real environmental models. panLab 2, with its roots in live theatre, is the perfect spatial audio solution which allows us to work quickly and efficiently when programming non-linear cuing sequences requiring dynamic movement sequences, within a complex and fast-moving environment,”
“UCL PEARL is the dream resource for developing new audio products,” says Daniel Higgott, director Innovate Audio LTD. “The facility is a vast space, already equipped with state-of-the-art technology. We look forward to developing products that can push the boundaries of what can be achieved, both in spatial audio and beyond.”
