innovision was appointed to create, manage and deliver the opening presentation at Lord's and all the in-stadium activation across all four venues, under the tournament theme of Everyone's Game. The in stadium activation - or 'sportainment' - was aimed to enhance the excitement of the game with the introduction of specially choreographed dancers, live presentation teams that included DJs and named MCs, visually arresting film packages, global sponsor activations and seamless interface between live event and TV broadcast.
Lisbeth Moon, innovision's event director for the ICC World Twenty20 said, "It has been both challenging and exciting to create in-stadium 'sportainment' packages, which we had to specifically design to seamlessly integrate between live action and global broadcast. The feedback we have received from teams, sponsors, tournament organisers, live and TV audiences has been really positive."
innovision's creative team also designed and fabricated bespoke dugouts for the international teams, which had to combine functionality for the players, integrated sponsor branding, a contemporary look and feel and lightweight materials for easy portability.
Steve Elworthy, the tournament director, said: "Sportainment has become an integral part of the Twenty20 experience and I believe that innovision, working closely with ECB's Sally Brooks, added to the stadium experience of the 400,000 spectators who came to watch the matches in 15 days."
