The Conference chair, Anne Millman, together with the Barbican Centre host Graham Sheffield, has assembled a programme titled 'The World in London'. Speakers already confirmed include Germaine Greer, professor at Warwick University, who will be giving the keynote speech; Deborah Bull, former principal dancer and now artistic director of the Royal Opera House's alternative spaces programme; Venu Dhupa of the National Endowment for Science and Technology and the Arts; Hardish Virk, marketing consultant for musicals such as Bombay Dreams; Keith Khan, director of Moti Roti theatre productions; and Robin Archer, artistic director of the Melbourne Festival.
Sessions will be held at the Tate Modern and Globe Theatre as well as the LSO St. Luke's resource centre. There will be receptions hosted by London's historic 15th Century Guildhall as well as a dazzling awards ceremony (with cabaret and dancing) at Whitbread's brewery; Estelle Morris, Minister of State for the Arts, will address the ceremony.
Prior to the conference, there will be a two-day Academy of seminars on 10-11 December, following on from the successful ISPA Academies held in Stockholm and Sydney. Leading experienced ISPA members from the United States and Canada will be joined by senior lecturers from the City University Department of Arts Policy and Management. Subjects to be covered will include Arts Finance, Law, Audiences, Creativity, International Copyright and Performing Arts Buildings in relation to the 21st Century Arts and Entertainment world. The Academy is specifically designed to provide top-level seminars for younger and newer ISPA members as well as other arts management students and younger people working in the field of entertainment and arts in the UK.
