Her shows at Chime for Change's Sound Of Change concert at Twickenham Stadium in June and Barclaycard's British Summer Time in Hyde Park in July were both performed from a stage set designed and delivered by LS-Live.
Chime for Change's global concert brought women's and girls' issues into the spotlight through a star-studded charity concert that invited each of the 50,000 guests to donate their ticket money to a project of their choice, which all promoted education, health and justice for females.
J-Lo performed alongside the likes of Beyoncé Ellie Goulding, Florence + The Machine, Haim, Jessie J and Rita Ora to a packed out stadium on 1 June.
The star returned to the capital on 14 July to perform at one of two weekend events in Hyde Park for Barclaycard's British Summer Time, where she stormed the main stage on the closing night ahead of Lionel Richie.
Jim Baggot, from producer/promoter giant Harvey Goldsmith, approached the Wakefield-based stage and automation specialist LS-Live for a bespoke on stage rental package for J-Lo's one-off Chime for Change performance.
Although there was a short lead time on the project, LS-Live director Ben Brooks was able to draw upon the company's various in house resources to design, customize and pre-build the rental package for delivery straight to the stadium.
The bones of the structure - a 42' wide by 24' deep rolling house stage set - was quickly assembled in LS-Live's production rehearsal arena space using industry standard LiteDeck components pulled straight from the shelves in its hire warehouse. Due to the modular nature of all of the company's hire products, the team could build one of its manlifts into the upstage edge of the stage, which was required for a seamless, dramatic entrance effect.
The three-tier structure, with platforms at 2', 4' and 6' high, was then customized to incorporate a gloss black marley dancefloor-style surface, with the downstage edges covered in Creative Technology's 9mm video screens, and lined with Colour Blast lighting supplied by PRG.
"The CT screens were delivered to our studio, where we created custom brackets to attach them to the front of the stage set, and installed the Colour Blast LED, ensuring that the whole structure rolled on stage in one piece."
J-Lo and her production team were so happy with the stage set that they asked LS-Live if they could rent it again with some adaptations for the British Summer Time show, this time under the instruction of production manager Omar Abderrahman and Mark Ward from Proper Productions. Back at the LS-Live headquarters, the team changed the look of the set with a new gloss black top and gloss white fascias for the downstage edges. They installed new quick-fit custom fascia brackets to lock them together and provide an easy-to-use roll on system for an efficient changeover.
Said Ben Brooks, "It's always a pleasure to work with Jim Baggot and Omar Abderrahman and it was great to have the opportunity to work with J-Lo for the first time. Turnaround time was tight but we will always go above and beyond to meet the needs of the client and make sure our rental packages are delivered on time and in budget."
