For specialized audio functions in the pit building which served drivers, factory teams, race management and the global media, Electronics & Engineering Pte of Singapore worked under Valerio Maioli SPA for the supply, installation and operation of the audio systems in four main areas of the pit building, including the Media Centre, Paddock Club Suites, Press Conference Room and the Podium area.
In the main grandstand podium area, which in addition to race announcements was used to support the opening and awards ceremonies for the main event and all supporting races, individual JBL Vertec VT4887A compact line array elements were truss-mounted to provide high-output sound coverage in the VIP area nearest the podium zone.
Additionally, the press conference room was served by a group of JBL Control 29AV-1 indoor/outdoor monitor speakers. The audio system at the media centre, featuring JBL Control 24CT in-ceiling speakers for background music and paging was a localised system, used to feed race commentary and press-conference audio to the media centre. The paddock club suites were equipped with Control 23T ultra-compact indoor/outdoor background/foreground loudspeakers.
"JBL's wide range of professional loudspeaker products includes a broad number of effective system solutions," observed Gary Goh, project and applications manager for Electronics & Engineering. "It was an historic occasion for the Formula One Grand Prix to be staged here in Singapore, and our entire team was proud to play a part in the sound reinforcement aspects of the event using JBL."
