FOH engineer Iain Slater and monitor engineer, Alistair Artingstall, are both enthusiastic about the performance of the Sennheiser products. Iain commented on the mic setup: "We are using e935s on main and backing vocals, for Tom and Tim, and they are working out very well. They're extremely smooth with a nice presence at the top end and they also have good feedback rejection. e604s are used on the toms and they do an excellent job as well as being discreet and durable. We've got e614s, which are good sturdy condensers, on overheads and hats and an e609 on the tambourine. The whole setup works well and sounds great."
Alistair went on to explain about the choice and use of the wireless in-ear monitoring: "I decided to try the Sennheiser ew300 G2 system on the recommendation of a colleague and was not disappointed. The audio quality is superb and doesn't suffer from the high-end sizzle that some rival systems do. The scanning function is a real bonus, cutting down on set-up time each day, and the overall sound quality and small pack size has been a real hit with the band, which is the most important factor at the end of the day. I would have no hesitation in recommending the ew300 G2s to anyone thinking of starting with or changing IEMs."
Keane enjoyed a very busy and successful 2004, including being voted winners in the UK Festival Awards for Best Live Newcomer, participation in Band Aid 20 on the single Do They Know It's Christmas and seeing their Hopes & Fears album top the album charts. Winning Best Breakthrough Act and the coveted Best Album for Hopes & Fears at the Brit Awards in February, their success continues to grow.
