The new amplifiers employ a unique Class D implementation ideally suited to lower power levels where the benefits of Class TD are less easily realized and where cost versus performance is paramount. A newly developed universal switching power supply employs PFC (Power Factor Correction) to stabilize current draw and accepts any mains voltage from 90 - 265 VAC (50 Hz or 60 Hz). The combination produces a flat frequency response into reactive loads, and does not color the sound in any way, emulating the classic Lab.gruppen Class TD and Regulated Switch Mode Power Supply. As with all C Series models, an interface for Lab.gruppen's proprietary NomadLink control and monitoring network is included as standard.
With all C Series models, each pair of channels may be bridged to provide a variety of output configurations. Full power without clipping is assured, as overall input sensitivity on all models is adjustable in 3dB increments from 23 to 44dB. Additionally, VPL (Voltage Peak Limiting) tailors each individual output for the specific load conditions, providing eight peak power output levels to optimize performance while protecting mid- and high-frequency voice coils.
Also being unveiled by Lab.gruppen at PLASA '06 is new FP+ Series, Lab.gruppen once again sets the industry benchmark for touring power amplification. The flagship FP 13000 provides two channels of 6500W @ 2 ohms and the FP 10000Q delivers 4 channels of 2500W @ 2 ohms. Completing the new line are the FP 7000, rated at 2 x 3500W @ 2 ohms, and the FP 6000Q supplying 4 x 1500W @ 2 ohms. All models are housed in a 2U cabinet, weighing 26.5lbs (12kg), and are also backed by the company's 6-year warranty.
According to Lab.gruppen, the FP+ Series technology platform combines a considerable refinement of patented Class TD amplification and the Regulated Switch Mode Power Supply to afford the user proven reliability with unprecedented power and channel density. The FP+ Series will effectively allow an over 50% reduction in rack space measured against the company's current fP Series amplifiers - already a standard in touring amp space and power efficiency. Also, for the first time, Lab.gruppen's proprietary NomadLink control and monitoring network is available in a touring package as a standard feature.
