With the advent of the new PLM Series, training is now a major factor for Lab.gruppen. Headed up by technical applications specialist, Thomas Vestergaard, topics covered during the day-long programme ranged from a basic grounding in Dolby Lake processing presented by freelance Dolby Lake processing specialist Miguel Hadelich, through practical system design using racks of PLMs and understanding the breadth and depth of front panel control, to creating LoadLibrary fingerprints utilising LoadEd software and the use of LoadSmart and SpeakerSafe to verify and monitor loudspeaker performance.
The first four training sessions in Kungsbacka predominantly saw guests from European, North African and MEA markets, with attendees present from Finland, UAE, Norway, France, Sweden, Tunisia, UK, Belgium, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Turkey, Israel, Italy, Poland, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Russia and Estonia. Participants in the Macau event came from China, India, Singapore, Philippines, Australia, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Certificates of Competence were distributed at the end of each day's session.
According to Lab.gruppen's European sales manager, Claus Behrens, the interest in PLM Series has been intense. "Forward orders (the products start shipping this month) have outstripped any previously encountered," he remarked. "Because of the pioneering nature of the product and its broad feature set, we needed to ensure that as many distributors as possible were provided with hands-on training in the art of Powered Loudspeaker Management. I was very pleased to have so many of our key distributors in attendance and look forward to greeting many more at the next training sessions, slated for Q1 2008."
Local PLM training sessions are planned for many other countries in the near future as the products start to enter the market, says the company. These local sessions will start to focus more on end-users needs and comprehension.
