In 1952, the Acme Pak Company was created to fill a need to package precision instruments in post-World War II America. Originally formed as a division of Acme Pak, the first Anvil cases were designed for travelling musicians. Founded by the Vallas Family, Anvil quickly became synonymous with travelling musicians due to its proximity to the Los Angeles area and its timing with the birth of Rock & Roll. After changing ownership several times, Anvil Cases was purchased by The Calzone Case Company in May of 1996.
According to Calzone/Anvil Cases president Joe Calzone, "It is an honour to have Larry Vallas join us at LDI 2009. Larry is a legendary figure in the evolution of the American touring industry, and a true innovator with a limitless supply of colourful rock n' roll stories. Through his work with veteran acts like The Beach Boys, The Allman Brothers, The Doors, Three Dog Night and many more, Larry created the blueprint for protection that continues to serve as our model for excellence in the 21st century."
Additionally, the company has announced that the first 100 visitors to the Calzone/Anvil display on Saturday will receive a complimentary vintage 'Fly Anvil' t-shirt with the company's distinctive airplane logo from the 1970s.
