Germany - Following a construction period lasting 10 years, the long-awaited moment came on 11 January 2017, when the Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) Elbphilharmonie Symphony Orchestra under its principal conductor Thomas Hengelbrok opened the spectacular Big Concert Hall in Hamburg's new landmark building with a musical journey from the Renaissance to present times.

The concert was recorded and broadcast by German public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (situated in the North of the country) from an audio control room in the same building as the performance - using a Lawo mc
