Jessica Morris, age 24, who worked as an apprentice product developer and graphic designer at Le Mark Group, was winner in the region for Apprenticeship champion of the year.
The Awards, now in their 13th year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognise excellence in two areas: businesses that grow their own talent with apprentices and apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces.
On winning, Jess said: "I finished my apprenticeship just over a year ago now and can safely say it is the best thing I could have done for my career, it has given me the skills and knowledge to progress within my job role and has given me the confidence to be the best I can be. I pro-actively promote the apprenticeship scheme because of how passionate I feel about it aiding me to the position I am in now. I hope my journey is inspiring to others and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience."
Jess won in recognition of the contribution she has made to Le Mark since joining as an apprentice in 2014. Jess works as part of the Dirty Rigger team within Le Mark, which sells high impact rigging gloves and related tools and accessories to workers in the arts, entertainment and events industry. Jess completely redesigned the brochures/flyers for the range and has also designed from scratch a complete range of gloves and clothing specifically for the ladies in the trade. Her designs have been featured in many trade publications and she also regularly helps out with the UK and export trade shows Le Mark attends.
Sue Husband, director of the National Apprenticeship Service, said: "The National Apprenticeship Awards enable exceptional apprentices and dedicated employers to receive the recognition they richly deserve. Apprenticeships enable people to gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed - in some cases up to degree level; and for businesses to grow the talent they need. Jess has won the Apprenticeship champion for East Anglia and I would like to congratulate her on her achievement. Winning this award is greatly deserved. There has never been a better time to become an apprentice or employ one."
