Filmed at Fountain Studios and based on a live Edinburgh show, this new series hosted by Dara O'Briain sees team captains Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon compete in five rounds of hilarious gaming contests to be crowned the 8 Bit Champion. In each episode they'll each be joined by as celebrity guest with names such as Bob Mortimer, Russell Howard, Rachel Riley and Gina Yashere taking part throughout the run. They'll be competing in video games both retro and current and it'll be up to the live audience and resident gaming expert Ellie Gibson to decide who will come up trumps in the battle for gaming glory.
For this vibrant set, Roger has employed VL1000TS, VL3000 Spots and Robin 600 LED Wash. A popular unit, the Robin 600 LED Wash features 37x 10 Watt RGBW multichip LEDs with colour output ranging from gentle pastels to the richest saturation.
Arranged in three concentric rings these LEDs offer possibilities for creating stunning colour and pattern audience blinding effects as well as for providing comprehensive and perfectly even wash coverage.
"The VL1000TS units provided all the key light for the show which was shot 360 degrees and on a revolve while the Robins gave strong colour and VL3000s texture to the cyc," noted Roger.
Dara O'Briain recently had this to say about the new show "Put a video game controller in the hands of a nun and she'll turn into a trash-talking bloodthirsty monster. Give a controller to a comedian and they'll do that too, but be funny. In video games veritas, my friends. This show is a raucous, back-biting, properly competitive celebration of the world's favourite pastime."
