A recent was a sold out evening featured Linkin Park previewing material for their upcoming European and North American Tours.
Kenneth Van Druten, Linkin Park's FOH engineer, specified Adamson for the upcoming Linkin Park dates after meeting with Jesse Adamson at a ZZ Top gig using the Adamson Yaxis rig in Corpus Christi, Texas, who were playing on an Adamson's Yaxis rig.
Van Druten's requirements for the show were specific: even coverage and excellent intelligibility throughout the venue to do Linkin Park's new material proper justice. Jochen Sommer, Adamson's newest addition to its European support personnel assisted with the final system design, which featured eight Y10's and two T-21 subs per side to cover the main floor and the rear balcony.
The system was ground stacked on 80cm high stage platforms, the stage right balcony reserved as the VIP area was another 1.2m above the rear one, therefore two conventional 151/2" speakers from GAE were used specifically to cover it. The entire Adamson system which was provided by Concert Sound UK used Lab.gruppen fP3400's and fP6400's for power and XTA DP226's for processing.
"I've got to compliment the smooth sound, the homogeneous coverage and the linear behaviour of the system - it allowed me to fully concentrate on the mix.," says Van Druten.
Four Adamson M15's were used for stage monitoring and one M15 per side was placed behind the Y10 stacks pointing towards the stage, as the small size of the stage did not allow for additional side-fill boxes. Monitor Engineer Kevin McCarthy reports, "It was so simple to work with the M15's on the stage, because of their sheer power, sound and high gain before feedback."
Linking Park's Project Revolution 2007 tour starts with European arena and festival dates on 24 May 24 in Copenhagen and will continue throughout Europe until the end of June. Various Adamson Yaxis partners are providing the required systems along the European dates. The North American dates begin on 27 July in California and finish on 3 September in Colorado. A full world tour is expected to follow later this year.
