Germany - The Metro Group has opened a Future Store in the town of Toenisvorst close to Duesseldorf where new retail technologies and concepts are tested. One of the Future Store's highlights is a Litefast Magic 360° Display.

The cutting-edge technology at the Metro Future Store offers maximum customer convenience and information in order to provide a new shopping experience. Customers can scan their purchases while shopping and get information via interactive kiosk systems. If desired, the innovation guides - two mobile robots - show customers around and point out the technical innovations.

An eye-catcher at the Future Store is a Litefast Magic Display, a state-of-the-art digital 360° video display more than 2m in height. Rapidly spinning LEDs in a transparent cylinder create colourful moving pictures which seem to appear out of thin air.

In contrast to common flat screens, Litefast Magic can be placed right in the middle of a room. The see-through display at eye-height can be viewed from all sides, presenting interesting visual effects. An optional showcase placed inside the display can accommodate real products, offering the opportunity for product presentation. Furthermore, the 360° LED display is network-compatible and easy to operate, making it an interesting stage for advertising, information and any kind of digital signage, say the company.
