The company announced at the PLASA Show on Monday its plan to change its name from Mackie Design to Loud Technologies in order to eliminate the confusion between 'Mackie' the company, and 'Mackie' the brand - as well as clarify the positioning for each individual brand under the now Loud Technologies umbrella.
"We have a fantastic network of dealers, distributors, system designers and contractors in place that have been very supportive of the Mackie Industrial brand and we are fully committed to this team," commented Ken Berger, senior vice-president of marketing at Loud Technologies Inc. "We want to build upon the momentum that they have helped us to establish and at that same time, leverage RCF's rich 50-year history in commercial sound into new markets, including North America."
As part of this refocus, the company is introducing a new logo and graphics identity for the RCF brand. These graphics, along with the newly re-branded RCF DX8 and DX810 digital mixers, as well as the RCF SP400C ceiling monitor, were exhibited this week at the PLASA show in London. A new RCF web site is scheduled to launch later this year.
Berger continued: "This move will bring tremendous clarity to the Mackie Designs Inc family of brands-leveraging each brand's strengths into its core markets. From now on, Mackie is our primary retail brand. TAPCO is our entry-level retail brand. EAW is all about high-end sound reinforcement and pro touring, and RCF is dedicated strictly to commercial sound.
