The Gateway Upgrade Project is the largest bridge and road construction project in Queensland's history, totalling more than $1.87Billion. The project includes the construction of a second Gateway Bridge and the upgrade of more than 20km of roads, plus the addition of a Customer Information Centre.
Key to helping community understand, interact and accept the new construction is the Customer Information Centre and of course its interactive presentations. Technically speaking the centre is controlled by a Pharos LPC1 (LSC is the official Australian Distributor of the Pharos brand) and an LSC EKO Dimmer. The user interface is also provided by LSC in the ePlate wall controllers, each with eight buttons.
Interestingly, the ePlates are controlling both the Pharos and EKO from one central location. This means the entire centre can be operated from the one entry/exit point, allowing maintenance staff to confidently operate the lighting system and day/night staff to bypass the complexities of operating different lighting control and other AV equipment. The ePlates allow for the pre-programming and recall of various configurations at the touch of a button.
The centre is used as a meeting room/theatre for public forums and stakeholder functions, with a motorised Projector screen and LCD Display in the reception area.
Jason Raft from Iceworks Design said: "After using the Pharos and LSC equipment for the first time during a previous project, they became the clear choice for Gateway. The ability to programme the lighting states including the LED treatment via the Pharos designer software and the compatibility with LSC's EKO dimmer and ePlates made it a simple system with a large scope for upgrade, which was a core challenge on the project."
