"Lighting designers and architects are frequently reluctant to specify unproven lighting technologies," said lighting designer Kevan Shaw. "Identification of luminaire manufacturers that adhere to a common set of technical design criteria and who will support and stand behind their products, gives professional lighting designers the confidence to specify LED products in their projects."
Designers, architects and other specifiers who work with Certified Luxeon luminaire manufacturers are now assured they receive luminaires capable of delivering the desired lighting effects as well as reliable long-term performance. Luminaire manufacturers and related solution providers can guarantee performance to end users through a clearly defined set of design and development requirements, say the company.
Chris Ewington of James Thomas Engineering, said: "The Luxeon Lighting Network offers an unrivalled opportunity for us to maximise our potential in the growing LED market. We are already using Luxeon LEDs in our powerful PixelPar 90L luminaire, and are confident that by participating in the Luxeon Lighting Network we will earn confidence from the specification community and gain access to key development and support resources that give us a major advantage in an increasingly competitive market."
Lumileds expects the Luxeon Lighting Network to include at least 50 members by 2005 and 200 by 2006.
