The new version of the MA64
UK - 4HM the UK manufacturer of MADI interfaces, monitors and format converters has launched a new website (www.4hmaudio.com) which as part of their move to reposition themselves in mainstream professional audio. Clearly signalling their intentions, the new website now uses the URL www.4hmaudio.com whilst all recent product introductions have placed as much emphasis on audio infrastructure for live sound and installation applications as they do for broadcast.

4HM Director, Craig Lovell explained, "When 4HM launched into the market with our first product, the SAM64, a quad SDI to MADI converter/de-embedder, it was pretty clearly aimed at the broadcast sector. Since then and as the MADI renaissance has really taken hold, the focus of our latest product developments has been to widen our appeal so that they are equally applicable in whatever environment MADI is found; whether it is broadcast, within live sound or indeed in installed sound."

Recent introductions from 4HM include their unique MADI-MON, which permits the monitoring and interrogation of incoming MADI streams (including embedded data), full and simultaneous conversion of up to 64 channels to both AES/EBU and AES3-id formats, MADI to MADI format conversion and a host of other features. Whilst the newly launched version of the 4HM MA64 now comes with sample rate converters extending its versatility.

"Our new version of the MA64 for example is no longer just being used as a compact 1U 64 channel MADI to AES converter, but also as a device to help resolve remote sync issues" said Lovell. "Quite often there is a need to run fibre over considerable lengths. This is fine and we can provide both mulit-mode and single-mode fibre solutions depending on the requirement.

"However, the issue is maintaining synchronisation across all the devices at the remote location. This is achieved by the MA64 providing derived and accurate word clock and AES clock outputs, all synchronised to the incoming MADI stream. It is from these sync sources that additional digital audio devices can be synchronised, therefore negating the need to add additional and costly cable runs."

The new website is now live with full details on the product range available.
