Davidson joins the company with a strong background in both professional audio and data networking sales and marketing, including extensive direct experience with Ethernet-based audio networking systems. "I knew about Focusrite from its interfaces and heritage," says Mark, "and when I heard about the position I knew it was perfect for me, with my background in pro-audio networking."
He goes on, "Audio networking is emerging as a major theme in professional audio. There's an extensive market for RedNet in a whole range of markets from live performance to fixed installations." Mark will be addressing, for example, systems integrators and consultants who pre-specify audio infrastructure products, and he also sees wide areas of application from hotels to theme parks and beyond. "In addition to the obvious larger-scale markets, I think there are a significant number of niche applications for this technology," he says. "I want to identify those areas and develop them alongside the mainstream applications."
Mark is both optimistic and forward-looking about joining Focusrite. "I'm really excited to be joining the company: it's a great opportunity. Focusrite is a great brand; it's a great company with a great reputation and I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead. It's an exciting time to be here: I think I have a unique chance to make a difference, to build a brand, and to help develop an increasingly profitable future for the company in this area."
Damian Hawley, Focusrite's Sales Director, is similarly enthusiastic about Davidson's appointment. "Mark brings exactly the combination of skills we need to progress the already impressive success of this new line," he says. "RedNet is turning out to have a much broader and more exciting range of applications than we imagined when we originally created it - we recently installed an extensive 43-unit system at the University of West London for example. Mark is just the man to expand and develop all the new application areas that are opening up."
Damian goes on, "RedNet represents the high end of our professional audio market. It brings together all our skills, old and new - in analogue and digital design, mic preamps, digital conversion and now networking - and takes them to new heights. The RedNet line has extraordinary potential, and Mark will be central to realising our ambitions in this area. We are pleased to welcome him to the company at an important point in our continuing expansion."
