Martin Audio debuted the W8L 'Longbow', a product to stretch even tauter the muscles that fire the arrows of line array. "It's abouta 10dB extra HF improvement on the W8L," said Martin Audio design guru Jim Cousins, "so it's for situations where you need a very long throw - particularly in dry air conditions where you get a lot of air absorption. It also has a new LF driver with much better headroom, so generally speaking it has a wider bandwidth at much greater distance than similar-sized line arrays."

The W8LCD is a downfill addition to each of Martin Audio's line array series, with 120° horizontal dispersion, 20° vertical. "It means you can run the array straighter," added Cousins, "so you get more projection and it works more like a line array should. It completes the range. But, as with other Martin line array, you can use it separately in groups of four for medium-throw up to 40m."

Also launched, the LE2100 is a high performance monitor designed for large-stage applications, with twin 12" (300mm) low frequency drivers, a unique 6.5" (165mm) mid-range device and a 1" (25mm) exit compression driver mounted on a differential dispersion horn. Differential dispersion technology increases the area over which a constant SPL and consistent frequency response is maintained at ear height, allowing the artist to move around more freely, while flux demodulation rings optimise upper bass clarity and reduce distortion levels at the high SPLs demanded of stage monitors, and neodymium motor systems help keep weight low.
