Product manager of Martin Professional's Asia-Pacific region, Jeffrey Ong from Martin Singapore, was on hand to lend his rich experience and thorough understanding of the popular M1, as well as Martin lighting fixtures and equipment. Senior technicians were also present from Martin's Hong Kong, Beijing and Guangzhou offices.
The first seminar was held on 15 November at Beijing Constellation Digital Technology Ltd., the sole distributor of Martin lighting in Northern China. Participants included lighting designers from Beijing BeiAo Group Corp., Ltd and CCTV, along with technicians from the DaFeng Company of Zhejiang Province, and personnel from Beijing Constellation.
The next M1 seminar was held on 16 November 16 at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing with students and teachers of the Academy in attendance."We took this chance to introduce the technology and application of the new generation M1 controller to future lighting designers and operators," comments Andrew Kong of Martin Hong Kong.
"There were 25 students and teachers that attended and everyone studied very hard to learn the skills of controller operation. Professor Feng Dezhong explained that their Academy is a leader in lighting education for the domestic film and television industry and that he is looking forward to cooperating and exchanging ideas with Martin lighing designers, pushing the development of lighting education and the progress of lighting design."
The last seminar took place at Shang An trading company, a Martin dealer in South China. Trainees included lighting designers and technicians from TV stations, lighting projects and performance troupes. Following Jeffrey's explaination and introduction to the M1, participants quickly learned how to operate the controller, a testament to the console's simple-to-learn philosophy.
Trainees expressed their satisfaction with the M1 seminars, as well as their wish for further opportunities to learn more about Martin's state-of-the-art product line.
