"We asked visitors why they had stopped at our booth and most of them mentioned the globe installation," stated Daniela Schäfer of Bombardier's exhibition staff. "Within the first few hours of the exhibition, it was a great success story."
VC-Dots are lightweight strings of individually controllable LEDs available with one, four or nine LEDs per pixel. They come in an RGB colour mixing version or cool, medium, or warm white single-color versions and are useful in integrating LED video into any form or structure.
The VC-Dot globe was designed and installed by Ambion GmbH located in Kassel, Germany, with subsidiaries in Berlin, Frankfurt and Hamburg. Winner of this year's BEA-Tech award, Ambion also owns Martin MAC Aura, MAC Viper and MAC III moving heads along with Martin M1 lighting consoles.
The Bombardier booth globe is one of the first VC-Dot installations worldwide and was done under extreme time pressure. "It is the only product on the market that allowed for the level of flexibility in programming that we needed for this project," says Peter Breuer, CEO of Ambion. "They did what they do best - they built atmospheres."
