Integrated by PCCW, a Medialon Control system is part of the cutting-edge digital planetarium system installed in the Stanley Ho Space theatre.
The Hong Space Museum, which hosts a diameter of 23m hemispherical projection, is one of the first planetarium in the world to possess a fully automatic control system in its theatre. It has also been the first to have installed an OMNIMAX film projector in Asia.
The Sky-Skan Definiti 8K full dome system is driving 6 sets of Sony T110 SXRD video projectors for impressive full dome moving pictures, and many others advanced audio visual devices.
Inside the theatre, the Medialon system coordinates the e:cue based LED lighting system, a Dataton Watchout multi-display system, a Yamaha digital mixer controlling multi channel sound to the 13 clusters of MeyerSound loudspeakers behind the dome, the OMNIMAX large format film projector, as well as the Carl Zeiss planetarium optical projector through special automation interface, together with a SPICE package from Sky-Skan to easily run different types of show in a day.
"The easy to change user screen and powerful logical task features of Medialon Manager enable accurate operation of all shows. The powerful Medialon Low Level Communicator (LLC) driver ensures good connectivity to different devices, especially those in house custom made system." says Kai-Ming Wong, project manager at PPCW. "All these advanced functions and features help to maintain quality in show delivering.", he concludes.
