The Blue Note Mystery is a visual extravaganza that transports spectators into a magical realm of sound and music, taking place every evening, in front of a 5,000-seat open-air amphitheatre at Futuroscope's lake. The 25-minute show, which takes place on a 7,000sq.m aquatic stage, includes an array of technical features including pyrotechnic effects, water effects, lasers, shrouds of mist, a multitude of twinkling lights, gigantic flames and more. During the show, giant images are projected onto two 25m and one 35m high water screens.
One Medialon Manager PRO and one Medialon Manager LITE Show and Media Control Software control the entire show. Four show control 'universes' have been created on Medialon Manager: one for the water illuminations, one for the water-jets, one for the pyrotechnic and flames, and a fourth one for the general show lightings.
Medialon Manager controls and synchronises the following devices: three cinema projectors (35mm 7kW), five double rotating PIGI projectors (5kW), one giant LED screen (28sq.m), three colour lasers (10-12W), two 25m water screens, one 35 m water screen, 70 monumental fountain jets (45m high), water effects including a 300m line of mist and seven geysers (8m span), 300 pyrotechnic effects, 16 flame projectors (8m high), two flame projectors (17m high) and 1,500 light reeds.
The Futuroscope theme park already had Medialon systems running for some of their attractions, and so integrating a Medialon system on The Blue Note Mystery show was an obvious choice, says Nicolas Paineau, E/T/C head programmer. "Indeed, the use of Medialon Manager offers lots of flexibility and real-time testing which are ideal for this type of show," said Paineau.
E/T/C has also designed remote control user interfaces thanks to Medialon Manager PANEL software to allow Futuroscope's technicians to easily control the entire show, check all the AV devices working, and make updates of the show if needed.
This is the third time Futuroscope has asked ECA2 and Yves Pépin to create and produce an evening show for the theme park. Over 50 people, ECA2 collaborators and partners, contributed to this new production over a 13-month period to offer visitors to Futuroscope a night-time show fitting for a major international theme park.
