Memphis church upgrades with Community
- Details
Carl Woodard II, the owner and designer of MC2Solutions, explained, “The system was required to provide very high quality speech and full-range music, with intelligibility being key. With such a large space, more akin to a theatre than a traditional church, we designed a system based on wide dispersion column line arrays with under-balcony fill, to ensure absolute coverage with no dead spots.”
Woodard continued, “I chose Community based on previous experience and the new IV6 modular vertical array was the ideal solution. I prefer passive loudspeakers for their cost-effective combination of acoustic purity and long-term system reliability. The multiple IV6 configurations available, with splay options and built-in passive acoustic optimization settings, allowed me to design the arrays to provide excellent SPL and frequency response consistency with seamless coverage.”
Flown with IV6 GlidePoint array frames, the system has three arrays, each comprising seven IV6-1122 wide-dispersion 12-inch two-way array elements. Four IV6-118S 18-inch subwoofers extend the low frequency and add impressive bass impact. A combination of Community single and dual 8-inch two-way IC6-1082 and IC6-2082 loudspeakers provide front and under-balcony-fill, ensuring even coverage of all seating with consistent voicing.
Controlled by an Allen & Heath digital mixer with personal monitoring, the system uses Lab Gruppen amplification and a Lake LM26 provides DSP. Shure ULX wireless microphones were chosen to ensure vocal quality with flexibility.
