The company established a reputation for taking a studied approach to sound reinforcement and providing pristine audio using Meyer Sound loudspeakers for its clients, who have included the Grateful Dead, Santana, the Dave Matthews Band, Andrea Bocelli and many others. Pearson left the company in spring 2004 to be an independent consultant providing audio services, including system tuning and educational seminars.
"We have known and worked with Don for many years," says Helen Meyer, executive vice-president of Meyer Sound, "and have always respected his devotion to combining the science of sound and the realities of touring sound reinforcement. Don's reputation is based on the results he achieved from that work, and we know that his knowledge and experience will be a powerful addition to our educational efforts."
Pearson's appointment is part of a major expansion Meyer Sound is making in its effort to provide quality education on audio technologies and system design. Pearson joins a strong team of instructors that includes Bob McCarthy, who founded Meyer Sound's educational programme with his breakthrough SIM School, in which he instructs professionals in the application of source independent measurement as provided by the company's SIM audio analyzer systems, and Mauricio 'Magu' Ramirez, known for the Meyer Sound seminars he presents worldwide.
Meyer Sound's educational effort is guided by Customer Service Manager Pablo Espinosa and Educational Program Manager Gavin Canaan, who have also tapped Meyer Sound Mexico's Salvador CastaƱeda and Oscar Barrientos to provide training locally and internationally. The addition of Pearson follows the completion of a 57-seat training theatre at Meyer Sound's Berkeley headquarters. The theatre incorporates desktops and Internet connections at every seat and can support nearly six tons of weight, making training possible in everything from proper rigging techniques to Meyer Sound tools such as SIM and Meyer Sound MAPP Online software.
Meyer has also announced the promotion of Rachel Archibald to director of marketing. Archibald has been with Meyer Sound since 1999, most recently as marketing projects manager. Previous to joining Meyer Sound, Archibald worked in the marketing department of a CAD software developer.
