Following a well-received presentation about acoustical prediction in 2003, John Meyer returns to Sound:Check Xpo to deliver a presentation about high-performance cinema sound, hosted by the AES Latin American Conference. Drawing from his years of experience in creating highly successful products for movie theatres, Meyer will share his knowledge of how to create sound systems that provide the complete, multi-sensory movie-viewing experience, the company says.
Audio professionals at the show will also have the opportunity to learn about the Constellation electroacoustic architecture at another AES presentation by Meyer Sound's executive director of Digital Products, John McMahon. Meyer Sound's Constellation system offers venues, for the first time, the ability to alter their acoustics with a button press to fit any given performance.
Making its south-of-the-border debut is the new UPQ-1P loudspeaker, which is sure to be the centre of attention at the Meyer Sound stand. With its flexible rigging options, wide vertical coverage and gradual off-axis roll off, UPQ-1P is suited for permanent installations in theatres and nightclubs as well as portable event production applications. The latest addition to Meyer Sound's famed UltraSeries, the self-powered loudspeaker houses 1,275W of total amplifier power, a 15" neodymium magnet low frequency driver, and a four-inch diaphragm compression driver coupled to an 80-degree by 50-degree constant directivity horn. This robust combination delivers a peak power output of 136 dB SPL with exceptionally flat phase and amplitude response.
The newly released self-powered MM-4XP miniature loudspeaker will also be featured. In an extremely small package, MM-4XP delivers an impressive maximum peak SPL of 113 dB and is an ideal solution for installations involving space and visibility concerns. MM-4XP is available in standard white or black anodized finishes and can also be custom painted to match specific colour schemes.
