"The Jatim Expo is large, about 60m by 120m (197ft by 393ft), so it needed a lot of power," says Rudy Winarto, managing director of system supplier Melodia Sound & Lighting Systems of Jakarta. "We also had many open mics on stage. Fortunately, the directional control of the M3D and the M3D-Subs made it possible to get plenty of gain before feedback."
Six M3D loudspeakers were arrayed in each of the main front clusters, while two side arrays comprised of four M3D cabinets each covered the left and right sections of the audience area. Four MTS-4A full-range loudspeakers covered the middle-front and stage-side seating areas, while eight M3D-Sub directional subwoofers pumped controlled low end into the audience.
On stage, the principal monitoring positions were assigned to four of Melodia's MJF-212A stage monitors. Their power and intelligibility impressed Winarto: "We did not hear about a single problem from anybody using the MJF-212As. From sound check to the end of the show, nobody even asked to change the EQ on a single one."
The 2007 event marks the third consecutive year that Melodia has provided Meyer Sound systems for Festival Kuasa Allah. "Each year they tell us how happy they were with the sound, so they ask us again," says Winarto. "But each year they have a bigger venue with bigger crowds, so we need to bring a bigger sound system."
