Sales and marketing director for Midas and KT, David Cooper, commented on the decision: "By moving distribution to Shuttlesound, we're effectively doubling our resource base for Midas service and technical support. In other words, in addition to everything we already offer the customer out of Kidderminster, we can now offer the same facilities from Shuttlesound's London base," says Cooper. "That is to say a huge demo facility, stock of emergency spares and a fully trained in-house service technician in the shape of Nigel Meddemmen, which is great news. Naturally our very own legendary Karl Brant will remain in charge of all service operations both in London and Kidderminster."
The UK sales operation will continue to be headed up by Richard Ferriday who points out that that the move will not affect pricing or access to Midas products via the network of Executive Agents which remains in place as before. "In fact, customers, in particular concert sound and corporate rental customers, should perceive very little difference at all in sales terms," he says. "I will remain as a point of contact at the factory for all Midas and KT products and will work closely with the Shuttlesound team. It should be a very transparent process, but yet one from which everyone will benefit."
Shuttlesound managing director Paul Barretta agrees: "There are clear advantages in consolidating distribution under one roof. As well as the addition of a London-based regional service centre for Midas and KT, the addition of the full range of Midas consoles to our portfolio means, especially for installation customers, that we can still offer our usual high quality back-up and full technical support but now encompass the entire Telex pro-audio line, enabling us to offer a full and truly integrated audio system solution. It's an extremely satisfactory arrangement for all concerned."
