Christos Stylianou, general manager of Eastbourne Pier and Atlantis Nightclub commented: "I wanted to use 3D LED tubes to maximise the impact of the arched ceiling. In addition to this we required moving heads, architectural highlighting and a complete sound system. All of this was needed on a budget."
Christos approached Ian Goacher from Accord Audio, based in East Sussex, to specify and install the equipment. Ian has a very long working relationship with the venue and understands their requirements perfectly. He sourced the majority of the equipment from MilTec (UK) Ltd, based near Maidstone in Kent.
The Miltec lighting equipment comprised of 172x 3D-PixelTubes and 4x EPW2 LED moving heads. For the architectural lighting he used 140m of tricolour LED tape and 9x two-zone tape controllers.
The audio system used MilTec's new Blakite range of speakers, built in the UK using custom drivers by Fane. 8 each of the 8- and 12 inch mid/tops were installed along with 4x 2000W double 18" subs. Amplification and processing was also supplied using MilTec's own lightweight amps and DNP26 signal processors.
"I used MilTec for several reasons." said Ian. "I wanted to be able to source as much of the equipment as possible from a single supplier and I needed technical input on both lighting and audio. I needed good quality products, value for money and first class service."
"I designed a special hanging frame for the 3D tubes and Miltec fabricated custom cables to order. All of their audio products are designed to match so I knew that the sound quality would be great. I used the EPW2 LED moving head because it is such an innovative light. It is the only unit on the market that can use the profile and wash functions at the same time, combined with the additional option of pixelmapping the wash LEDs."
"We only had 6 weeks to complete the job from receipt of order so MilTec really pulled out all the stops and even built the speakers ahead of the first production run. Both Christos and I are very pleased and impressed with the results."
DMX control and programming was supplied by ShowCad Ltd.
