The first batch was purchased by Light Fantastic Production Services
UK - MilTec (UK) Ltd recently began production of their new Mini-Map miniature LED screen. The Mini-Map is just 155mm square and has 36 tricolour pixels, controlled via DMX512. Manufactured at MilTec's HQ in Kent, England, each tile has been designed to be deployed quickly and efficiently with Powercon and XLR5 inputs & outputs. A central M10 mounting point provides a wide range of rigging options when combined with Miltec's custom mounting bracket.

The first batch was purchased by Light Fantastic Production Services Ltd, based in London. Rob Myer, managing director of Light Fantastic commented, "The Mini-Maps are so versatile and compact, the applications are endless. They're perfect for building into stage fascias & set pieces as well as using as eye candy on stage or around a room. They're also great to use in large numbers as a low res video display - The viewer's brain naturally fills in the gaps between the tiles when they're used in a matrix format, giving you a lot of screen for your money - With 150 units in rental stock we're excited to be able to offer these to our clients."

MilTec made their demo stock of 50 units available for a week so Light Fantastic could try out a sample system and demo this to their clients before committing to the purchase. The Mini-Maps are expected to be in demand on a wide range of Light Fantastic's 'full service' projects but will also be available to our dry customers. Rob continues, "Having worked closely with Tony Bailey at MilTec, we were able to ensure this fixture met our client's needs while at the same time being affordable and easy to install - The custom bracket MilTec designed for us is a great example of this."

Rob concludes, "The Mini-Map is another great example of the convergence of lighting and video. With the unit accepting DMX data in and out, we can either drive them directly from a lighting desk for simple chase effects or output video content via our Green Hippo media servers."
