For the past two years Mission has focused on development of a range of dedicated products for its new division. The installation and portable products are designed specifically for applications where advanced DML (distributed mode loudspeaker) technology offers a significant advantage over traditional cone systems - applications that require high intelligibility with wide, even coverage within both good and difficult reverberant acoustic environments. In addition, Mission has used its extensive R & D resources to design two new passive and active nearfield studio monitors.
Now, with a complete product range, the organization has been strengthened to turn the focus on to sales, marketing and distribution. Alex Munro joined Mission Group as sales director last September and brought with him a wealth of experience in both consumer and professional audio, including that gained during his time as managing director of Tannoy and Tannoy Professional.
Under Munro, Steve Jordan continues to head the division as director of sales and marketing, Mission Professional and completing the front-line professional team, from within Mission, are Matt Nimmons, marketing manager and Steve Adams, new technologies manager. Derek West of Carlton-Lee Consultants has been retained by Mission Professional to provide additional application, marketing and PR services for the division. West has 25 years industry experience, much of which was gained as sales and marketing director of Tannoy. This reforms his old alliance with Munro, which previously brought about the inception and building of Tannoy's Professional Division. On the appointment of West, Munro explained: "It's good to work with Derek again. With his background in every aspect of Professional Audio he is a valuable resource and, within weeks, has proved to be a strong team member."
Commenting on the moves, Jordan said: "Being in at the start it has been great to see the products developed from scratch and to be part of some prestigious installations along the way. Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre and Eton College Chapel, which won the AV Industry Awards 2003 - Audio Project of the Year, helped our technical learning curve a lot and by now putting together a very experienced team we are able to take the business to the next level. This has already proved itself in the appointment of distributors in some key global markets and we can now continue this to fully realize the potential of our brand and products"
