Held at Norfolk Showground, Sundown Festival lived up to its name and kept the rain at bay, with the 54,000 capacity crowd enjoying pop and dance acts Katy B, Tinie Tempah, Chase and Status, Clean Bandit and Ellie Goulding.
The following weekend, 5-7 September, saw the first ever Reload festival which bought classic soul to the streets of Norfolk with Kool & the Gang, Billy Ocean and Sister Sledge taking to the stage. With thousands of people in attendance the event used much of the same infrastructure as Sundown festival, including the same main stage and stage barrier layout.
Kevin Thorborn, general manager Mojo Barriers UK, said, "These two events attracted very different crowd demographics, but due to the venue - which is great to work in due to the easy access and flat topography - and similar audience capacities, we were able to re-use an almost identical configuration for both events. This proved a cost effective option for the event organisers and resulted in minimum reworking of the site."
100m of Mojo's aluminium stage barriers were used in total to form a barrier line directly in front of the main stage and entirely circle the front of house. The team liaised closely with Roy Trickett, head of logistics at Envy, to install the system and remove after Reload.
Roy commented, "Mojo delivered on time and on their promise of providing top quality safety barriers which capably handled the pressure of thousands of screaming music fans as they watched their idols perform. We were very pleased with the barrier solutions provided."
Mojo's Kevin Thorborn continued, "Congratulations to Envy for yet another great Sundown festival and the launch of Reload festival, which is a fantastic addition to the UK festival calendar. We look forward to working with Roy and his team again in the future."
