The 22nd Annual Budweiser Snow Sculpture Championships in Breckenridge, Colorado
USA - Mountain Light Company again partnered with the Breckenridge Resort Chamber (GoBreck.com) to develop, design and install a temporary site lighting system for the 22nd Annual Budweiser Snow Sculpture Championships in Breckenridge, Colorado 21 January through 5 February 2012.

The challenges associated with working in the high alpine environment particularly during the occasional snowstorm kept the MLC crew on its toes. Carl Olson, director of operations said, "The client was thrilled because they didn't have to touch the lighting for 3 weeks! In the past generators needed fueling nightly. With the new power distribution and LED lighting, we've delivered to the client a peaceful, visually stunning environment in the snow." New this year are strategically placed power outlets throughout site.

Mountain Light Company also redesigned their towers to allow for cable path and clear pedestrian walkways. "Our partnership with Xtreme Structures is a big plus since we have a large selection of truss in our rental stock." said Mountain Light Company principal, John Fuller. "In re-engineering our truss towers we also created additional opportunities for the Breckenridge Resort Chamber to sell sponsorship visibility. It is our goal to identify our clients' needs and create opportunities for their success, at the same time as providing a highly effective lighting plan. The Breckenridge Resort Chamber is a fantastic organisation; the Town of Breckenridge is lucky to have such a talented and dedicated committee of people working on this annual event."

Philips Color Kinetics iPlayer3s triggered the lights at sunset every evening. During the sculpting and judging phases of the event white light was provided. Many of the teams work through the night because they are given only 4 days in which to bring their plans into reality. Once judging was completed, ColorBlast12s were placed strategically throughout the site and a pre-programmed design of colored light was provided, repeating on a half hourly basis until dawn. Sculpture viewers were heard to giggle with joy when the colors returned after a period of white light.

Mountain Light Company used 22 Philips Color Kinetics ColorReach and over 100 ColorBlast12s with custom ShowDMX wireless control infrastructure and a power distribution system which included 22 City Theatrical PDS units. Xtreme Structures truss provided support. Mountain Light Company built custom enclosures kept control equipment dry for three weeks in the unpredictable mountain environment.
