China - This year over 750 exhibitors of musical instruments and accessories, more than 130 exhibitors of professional audio and lighting equipment, and a packed schedule of events to entertain and enlighten visitors at the Music China and Prolight + Sound Shanghai show, which will run side-by-side at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong from 19 - 22 October.

Prolight + Sound Shanghai may be smaller than it's neighbour Music China, but it's growing steadily and attracting some of the world's leading pro-audio and lighting companies into the fold. With over 130 exhibitors from 10 countries and regions - including China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Norway, Singapore, Taiwan, the UK and the USA - the 2005 fair will show a good range of entertainment and AV equipment.

Amongst the exhibitors are: Roxland (representing McCauley, Crest Audio, Pioneer and Shure), Zhejiang Harman AV Technology (representing Realtronix - Australia, Sabine, DBX, CROWN, PAL, TAPCO, Mackie, JBL-USA), Shenzhen Bao Ye Heng Industrial Development (representing C-Mark-USA), Beijing Baoma Engineering (representing Brahler-Germany) Penn-Elcom (Guangzhou) (representing Penn-Elcom-UK), Digexplorer Audio Technology Shenzhen (representing Behringer-Germany), Telex EVI Audio (Shanghai) (representing Electro Voice, DYNACORD, Midas, Klark Teknik, RTS, TELEX), Kwanasia Electronics (Macao Commercial Offshore) (representing Peavey Electronics-US) and Loud Technologies China (representing EAW Commercial, TAPCO, SIA, and CRATE).

During the show the third Pioneer Cup DJ competition, sponsored by Pioneer (HK) and Sanshin New-Tech Electroacoustic Equipment, will happen in the outdoor tent in front of hall two. Twelve aspiring DJs will be judged on their sound skills, music synthesis, accuracy and creativity on the mixing decks. The incentives are huge; winners will be awarded thousands of dollars worth of DJ mixing equipment from Pioneer.

The DJ Forum, continues the mixing theme at Prolight + Sound Shanghai, under the heading The Development of China's DJ Culture, participants in the forum will explore how DJ-ing as a profession has proliferated in China, and look for ways to further develop and support the industry.
