The D12R is a 12-inch, two-way, polypropylene cabinet for professional fixed installations (swimming pools, ice rinks, hotels, amusement parks, etc.) as well as small to medium-sized events. The box is equipped with an Electro-Voice DL12BFH 12" woofer (for the bass and midrange) and a Constant-Directivity HF horn [radiation pattern: 80° (horizontal) x 40° (vertical)] armed with the newly developed ND2 driver from Electro-Voice. The cabinet also features 300-watt (continuous) and 1200-watt (peak) power handling, a maximum sound pressure level of 129 dB, and a frequency range from 70 Hz to 18 kHz.
The D12T is primarily designed for fixed installation sound reinforcement applications in 100-volt audio distribution networks. It can also be used at events where long cables need to run from the amplifier without power loss. The D12T is equipped with the same components and achieves the same figures (for SPL, reproduction range etc.) as the D12R. For integration into a 100-volt network, the speaker is also equipped with a low-distortion toroidal audio transformer, and cabinet power (300-watt, 150-watt, or 75-watt) is determined by the wiring of the incoming connector. The D12T is designed as a full-range cabinet for the reproduction of speech and music.
To guard against thermal overload, the enclosures of both cabinets are equipped with halogen protectors, and the D12R features a fully electronic system of voice-coil tracking protection. The D12R's thermal guards help it to achieve maximum dynamic range through use with amplifiers that have outputs as high as 1200 watts into eight ohms.
