The cursor buttons can now operate in three different modes: navigation mode to move the cursor across region boundaries, zoom mode to control horizontal and vertical waveform zoom, and selection mode to adjust 'in' and 'out' points or move the selection to a different track. Soft MIDI buttons 1 and 2 control and display the Mute and Track Arm status of the selected tracks. Similarly, MIDI buttons 3 to 7 control and display the automation mode of the selected tracks, making it possible to switch quickly between Read, Write, Touch, Latch or Off.
Users also benefit from a range of enhancements to the FireWire interface driver, including support of Mountain Lion and Windows 8.
"The new firmware equips the GS-R24 with additional control that enables the highest possible integration with Pro Tools ever achieved by an analogue mixer at this price point," says A&H product specialist, Nicola Beretta. "It's like having a dedicated HUI controller embedded in the analogue heart of GS-R24. You press a channel Select button, and you get instant access to all key functions in the master section."
GS-R24's ability to combine tracking, conversion, DAW control, analogue mixdown, summing and monitor routing makes it a suitable centrepiece of modern commercial and project studios
