Officially launched at last year's PLASA Show, the QUE-18 builds on Formula Sound's existing QUE-8 and QUE-10 foldback mixers by adding valuable extra channels and new features to what has proved to be a very popular and thoroughly proven design. It has been created to satisfy demands from sound design professionals for a product that provides new levels of foldback flexibility, especially in theatre applications, and has received an enthusiastic response from users such as Bobby Aitken of Bobby Aitken Sound Designs, who specified the QUE-18 for the Queen musical.
"They have proved to be absolutely excellent," he comments. "I have been a long-time user of Formula Sound products and the QUE-18 combines the outstanding reliability and rugged construction I'd expect with increased mixing capabilities and new features. Nothing else matches it for price or performance. I've already specified it for other international productions and it's quickly become my standard foldback mixer of choice."
System Sound Pty Ltd of Victoria supplied the equipment for the Sydney production, and director Peter Grubb is equally enthusiastic: "The system is fantastic, and as usual with Formula Sound equipment there are no faults whatsoever," he says.
The QUE-18 accepts up to 18 audio inputs (14 mono and 2 stereo) and can satisfy different foldback requirements thanks to its many configuration options. Full compatibility with studio mixing consoles means that the QUE-18 is suitable for any application where reliable and controllable foldback handling is necessary.
