New look Showgroup keeps busy

South Africa - Showgroup recently underwent a complete transformation from a fresh new logo, new website, trucks with bright green sign-writing, office renovations and a Spa where clients and staff alike can make appointments for anything from free manicures to massages, ensuring everyone's welfare is looked after, says the company.On the technical side, Showgroup purchased 16 Robin 300E Spot fixtures, liking the optics, design and zoom of the fixtures, along with 14 new LTM Loadguard 500kg hoists. The Robins have already been hard at work on various gigs including ABSA Choirs, the Business Women's Association of South Africa Awards and a rather spectacular reveal of the AHRLAC!At the Teatro at Montecasino, Showgroup used 16 Robin 300, eight VLX Washes, and VL 2 500 Spots for the seventh annual ABSA Choir Halala Festival. A grandMA was hired in for the show.The concept behind the event is that every choir member, musician and conductor must be an employee of ABSA. The show is very close to Showgroup director Robbie Blake's heart who this year wanted to create a theatrical look. He also collaborated with well known music producer JB Arthur.For the past decade, Showgroup have worked on the Businesswoman of the Year Award, which this year was held at the Vodadome at Vodaworld in Midrand.The 16 Robe Robin 300 were used as a secondary colour making the floor of the room look like water that you were walking on.In Pretoria, Showgroup worked on the launch of a revolutionary new South African-designed and developed aircraft, The Advanced High-Performance Reconnaissance light Aircraft (AHRLAC).The Robe Robins were used as back light. The idea was to have 'sun beams', using the fixtures, to shine through the clouds (created by a smoke effect). At the end of the launch, during live interviews and photographs of the aircraft, the Robins were used for colour.(Jim Evans)
